How payments work

Everything hosts want to know about security, fees and payouts.

What is Stripe and why does Fallinboat use it?
Stripe is the most widely used online payment platform in the world (Amazon, Apple and Google rely on it for their services). It handles banking security, fraud prevention and identity verification on our behalf, so tourist payments go directly to your bank account — Fallinboat never touches your money.
Are my bank details and tourist card data safe?
Yes. Card data never touches our servers: it goes directly to Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified (the highest standard in the industry). Your IBAN is also handled by Stripe and is only visible to you in your Stripe dashboard.
What does Fallinboat keep per booking?
18% of the total, always. It's our commission, automatically deducted when the tourist pays. You see both gross and net from the very first quote screen. Stripe's own processing fees are on us (not on you) and already included in that 18%.
When do the funds land on my account?
Stripe automatically transfers to your IBAN every day, with a 7-day buffer from the experience date. Example: outing on July 15 → transfer around July 22-24. The 7 days cover potential refunds or tourist disputes.
What's needed to complete Stripe verification?
An owner ID document (ID card or passport), tax code, and the IBAN where you want to receive payments. For companies: chamber of commerce certificate, VAT number, and legal representative's details. Everything is uploaded in the Stripe panel, step by step, in about 5-10 minutes.

The things hosts ask most often before starting.

Do I need any specific documents?
To publish, registration is enough. To receive payments, Stripe requires an ID document and IBAN (guided verification). For skippered boats, nautical credentials are required.
How long does it take to get my first booking?
On average 3–7 days in peak season (June–September), 2–4 weeks in low season. Listings with pro photos and 5+ reviews go faster.
Can I manage multiple boats?
Yes. You create a single host account and list as many boats as you want. The calendar is separate per boat but the inbox is unified.
What if a tourist cancels?
If they cancel within 48 hours of the outing, you get 50% of the cost. In the last 24 hours you keep 100% except in case of certified bad weather.
