Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before you sail.
Do I need a boating licence?
It depends on the boat. For gozzo-style boats and any boat with an engine up to 40HP no licence is required — you just need to be of legal age. Above 40HP or more than 6 nautical miles from the coast a licence is mandatory. The exact requirement is shown on each boat's page and in our terms.
How does the security deposit work?
The host may request a deposit (usually between €200 and €1,000 depending on the boat) as a pre-authorization on your card at check-in. It's released within 24–48h after you return, provided the boat comes back undamaged.
Can I cancel or change my booking?
Yes, but the conditions depend on the host's policy shown on the boat page. Generally, you get a full refund up to 7 days before the date, a partial refund between 7 and 2 days out, and no refund in the final 48h. Date changes are free if the host has availability.
What's included in the price (fuel, gear, cleaning)?
Fuel is never included and is always extra (paid on return based on actual consumption). Snorkeling gear, towels and cleaning vary by host: you'll find everything listed in the Services section of the boat page before booking.
Can I book with or without a skipper?
Both. Some boats come only with a skipper, others only as bareboat rentals, others offer the skipper as an extra option (usually €150–200/day). What you see on the boat page is what each host has chosen to offer.
How does check-in at the marina work?
You agree time and meeting point at the marina with the host (usually Trapani or Favignana). Check-in takes 10–15 minutes: a briefing on the boat, safety, recommended routes, and signing the rental contract. After that, you're free to set off.
